what is krump?

Krump stands for Kingdom Radically Uplifted Mighty Praise—Pretty powerful, right? Born from the Streets

The Untold Story Behind Krump’s Rise

Back in the early 2000s, there were no stages or sponsors—just garage lights, driveways, and raw fire. Ceasare Laron Willis, better known as Tighteyex, grew up in South Central LA, surrounded by poverty, abuse, gang violence, and drugs. Dropping out of high school wasn’t a choice—it was survival.

He was shot twice, faced countless near-death moments, and often found his mother in drug houses—a story he was afraid to tell until recently. But nothing could stop the calling on his life.

At age 10, during a revival service, a prophet told Tighteyex he’d “dance on the kingdom of darkness.” A year later, he woke up at 3 a.m., driven by an unstoppable force—punching, stomping, battling in the spirit. That raw energy exploded into what we now call Krump—and that story is still being told.

from pain to power

Krump was born from pain and survival—kids from the hood turning battles into breakthroughs and finding a way to escape gang violence. They weren’t dancing to be seen; they were dancing to heal. And when healing happens, the world can’t look away.

From the streets to the spotlight.

From Chris Brown to Usher, Madonna, Beyoncé, and beyond—Krump reached the stars. What started with a few warriors ignited a global blaze. Movies, music videos, commercials, arenas, schools—the movement keeps growing. But every session still feels like Day One.

  • 1996: At 3:00 AM in New Jersey, Ceasare is awakened by an unstoppable force—punching, stomping, and battling in the spirit. A spiritual awakening begins.

Early 2000s – Birth of a Movement

  • Early 2000s: Ceasare encounters clowning and meets Tommy the Clown. He begins to wonder: “Is this what the prophet saw?”
  • Early 2000s: Meets Jo’Artist aka Mijo during a play rehearsal. They connect. Ceasare shares his raw, aggressive movement. Ceasare jokingly calls it “rugged ni**a dancing.”
  • Early 2000s: Ceasare's mom nicknames him “Tighteyez” because of his small "tight“ eyes. People also call him “tight” because of his moves.
  • Early 2000s: Tighteyez dances for Tommy. Dancers like Lil C, Miss Prissy, and Slayer recognize something new. Together, they shift from clowning and Krump gets its name.
  • Early 2003: KRUMP DVDs begin circulating, spreading the fire of this new, raw style.
  • 2005: RIZE Documentary
David LaChapelle’s Rize introduces Krump to the world. Tighteyez and Krump Pioneers become the face of a culture that’s bigger than dance—it’s a movement.

The Rise of KRUMP: 2006–2009

  • Circa 2006: KRUMP enters the mainstream. Tighteyez, Lil C and Miss Prissy appear in major music videos, blasting Krump into pop culture.

  • 2011–2020: Krump goes global—seen in over 30 countries including Russia, France, Germany, Japan, Nigeria, and Brazil.
  • Circa 2015: Tighteyez’s mother is hospitalized. In this deeply personal season, he drops the “z” and adds the “x,” transforming his name to Tighteyex—a prophetic shift that marks a new chapter in both his identity and divine calling.

Foundation of a Movement: 2023–2024

  • Ceasare “Tighteyex” Willis and his wife Kendra Willis officially launch Krump Inc. to preserve the legacy, empower the culture, and establish infrastructure for the next generation of Kingdom-driven movement artists.
  • Today: Legacy & Innovation
Tighteyex continues to evolve and lead the Krump movement—mentoring new generations, fueling global impact, and honoring the spiritual roots of this life-giving dance. Through Bvck University and the International Krump Association (IKA), he’s shaping the official league for competitive Krump, turning a street-born art into a structured, global movement.
